Windows Update 80070000E Error

If you're getting a 80070000E issue when trying to update a Windows 7 follow the steps below to solve the issue.

  1. Download and install IE11 (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/internet-explorer-11-for-windows-7-details.aspx)
  2. Restart your computer.
  3. Download and install KB3102810 update and install it (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49542)
  4. Restart your computer again.
At that point you should be able to use Windows Updates from the control panel. If you're still having issues, try the following as a last result.
  1. Stop "Windows Update Service"
  2. Rename "SoftwareDistribution" folder in C:\Windows to "SoftwareDistribution_BACKUP"
  3. Restart your computer.
